A bit about Florianópolis

Florianópolis is an island with more than 40 beaches, lagoons and trails. Founded in 1673 and settled by Azorean families, its downtown still holds the Public Market, the Cathedral and the Hercílio Luz Bridge — the city's landmark. The north has the liveliest beaches; the east, the open sea at Mole and Joaquina; the south, the fishing villages of Ribeirão da Ilha and Campeche. Boat tours leave from several points of the island and reach beaches you can only get to by sea.
